Hurricane Harvey devastated the state of Texas, hitting the city of Houston especially hard. The powerful storm caused many residents to flee their flooded homes, including Arlene Gonzalez.

Arlene couldn’t believe how strong the storm actually was, not until she looked at her backyard, which faces Lake Olympia. After Hurricane Harvey got through with it, the yard was completely submerged. She decided to film the flooding for her followers on Facebook, but nothing could have prepared her for what she saw in the water.

At first, she spotted shapes moving under the water. Then, they revealed themselves.

“The shock of seeing your backyard underwater and two alligators!” Arlene said to Inside Edition. “Surreal.”

Two big alligators were casually swimming in Arlene’s flooded backyard. The reptiles had no doubt been displaced by Hurricane Harvey and found themselves in her backyard.

Arlene said that she had gotten used to seeing baby alligators in Lake Olympia during the spring, but seeing two big ones like the gators in her backyard was definitely a shock to the system!

And the gators weren’t alone!

Check out what other unexpected guests Arlene had at her home during Hurricane Harvey in the video below, and please SHARE it on Facebook!
