Cop Can’t Go Home On His Birthday, Then Tears Up When He Hears Daughter’s Voice On The Phone

It’s only now, many days since Hurricane Harvey devastated the Texas coast, that we’re getting a better look at the damage the storm caused.

First responders are working around the clock to rescue those stranded, heal the injured, and shelter the homeless. Many have been left with nothing, and others are thanking their lucky stars for how much they managed to escape with — including their lives.

Now, more than ever, every small gesture of good faith and love counts — and that goes for both the affected and those helping them.

One Houston cop has been working tirelessly like many his colleagues, and even had to spend his birthday hard at work, away from his family.

In the video below, the anonymous officer with the Houston Police Department receives a phone call. It’s his young daughter.

She breaks out into song, singing him “Happy Birthday to You.” The proud dad can’t help but break down into tears at the sweet sound of his little girl’s voice. It’s a little piece of home he desperately needs during such a sad time.

Hopefully, this brave cop will be able to go home soon and celebrate properly — and maybe his daughter can sing to him in person!
