This time of year, when the weather gets cold and windy, I know it’s time to start stocking up on my winter beauty essentials.

After all, it may be the season of holiday parties and delicious food, but it’s also prime time for dry air, freezing winds, and, ultimately, chapped skin. That’s why nail care tutorials like this one are so important this time of year, and why you should make sure you have plenty of lotion and aloe on hand.

Of course, one of the biggest wintertime beauty woes is the omnipresent chapped lips that we all suffer through during the colder season.

That’s why, to save on buying endless supplies of ChapStick, I decided to whip up a batch of my own flavored lip gloss this year.

Not only does it taste great, it will also protect my lips from harsh winter weather until the spring!

It’s easy to make, simple to store, and, best of all, totally customizable. Since this recipe calls for ordinary household supplies, and uses Kool-Aid for color and flavor, making your own custom flavor is a piece of cake.
