Hilary Duff just shared an extra-private, extra-sweet video of her daughter, Banks, just after birth.

Hilary delivered Banks at home in October 2018. Shortly afterward, she shared her birth story with fans, revealing that she’d given birth to Banks at home in a tub of water. She was in labor “for a really long time,” but the pushing itself didn’t take that long. And once Banks arrived, she reached up and basically gave her mama a hug.

“They hand her to me and I’m looking at her … and she reaches up both of her arms and curls into me … reaches up her arms right at my neck, as if to give me a hug,” Hilary said in November, according to People.

“It made me feel like she was like, ‘Good team, Mom, we did it.’”

Banks just turned 5 months old, and Hilary recently shared an actual video of that first hug to celebrate. The special moment is nothing short of amazing.

Hilary Duff and her boyfriend Matthew Koma recently welcomed their first child together. Hilary was already a mom to 6-year-old son Luca when daughter Banks arrived in October.

Hilary has always been really open with her fans about her parenting experiences. She had a water birth at home when delivering Banks, surrounded by midwives and her boyfriend. She shared the whole birth story on the Informed Pregnancy podcast in November.

When Banks first arrived, the two shared a sweet moment.

“They hand her to me and I’m looking at her … and she reaches up both of her arms and curls into me … reaches up her arms right at my neck, as if to give me a hug,” Hilary said in the podcast, per People. “I couldn’t believe how strong she was but it was so clearly a hug.”

To celebrate Banks turning 5 months old, Hilary posted a video of that special first hug between her and her baby. You might want to grab a tissue for this.

Hilary captioned the video:

“I’ve been wondering for a long time if I would ever share this video as it is extremely personal…. it was so absolutely lovely and rewarding (and shocking) that after giving birth to my baby girl we hugged … for the first time, In my mind I like to believe that she was saying good job mom. Go team go. We did it. Together.”

She continued:

“Matt provided such a safe calm strength, my mommy and sissy were there to cheer me on, and of course my birth angels to make sure all was well and big brother (downstairs deep in legos). I cannot believe this day was only 5 months ago!!”

“It seems like B has been here with us all along. The time is already going so fast… she tried avocado yesterday!”

Hilary concluded:

“Anyway… feeling blessed for this full hectic life and all the people in it. Happy 5 months Banks. Oh, and thanks for quitting colic — that was a doozy.”

Hilary may have been uncertain about whether or not to share the video, but people sure are glad that she decided to do it. Commenters can hardly believe how touching this clip is.

Also notable: Matt left a comment implying that maybe there will be a baby No. 3 in the works at some point?!

The two have been adjusting to life with two kiddos (including one infant) at home.

“I don’t leave the house anymore these days, I don’t know what to say,” Hilary joked to Entertainment Tonight at the Golden Globes after-party earlier this year.

“We feel good, we’re like, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s past our bedtime,'” she continued. “‘We’re out and we’re raging, what is this?’ I mean, our baby is 10 weeks old and I obviously have a 6-year-old too, so we’re, like, full parents right now.”

But they’re loving the experience. And Luca has been an awesome big brother, too, although he was reportedly hesitant about the baby before she came.

“[Luca’s] really sweet. He’s constantly wanting to hold her little face,” Hilary told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s really nice, you know, he’s very helpful and she is a colic baby so that’s been a little stressful, but I think we’re on the tail end of it which is very exciting, but it’s been great.”

Happy 5 months, Banks!
