It started as a joke.

Kimberley Dean met Ron Palmer when they were both in high school at Saint Agnes School in Minneapolis.

They quickly fell in love and started dating.

Over time, the young romance lost its spark. Kimberly and Ron broke up and went on to marry other people and have families of their own.

They always kept in touch and stayed friends.

But somewhere along the way, the pair had made a very special pact, though they didn’t really take it seriously at first.

If they were still single by the age of 50, they would get married — to each other. It’s like a storyline plucked from a romantic comedy.

And then, 37 years after Kimberly and Ron first met, they found themselves faced with the opportunity to make good on that old wedding pact.
