Heather Locklear Hospitalized For Psych Evaluation After Reportedly Threatening To Shoot Herself

Heather Locklear was reportedly hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation over the weekend following a domestic dispute, according to multiple outlets.

TMZ reported that one of the 56-year-old actress’ family members called 911 Sunday after she threatened to shoot herself. Both the Ventura County Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department responded to her home, where Heather was found “agitated and violent,” according to audio of the dispatch obtained by the gossip site.

The Melrose Place star was then taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation, TMZ added. She was not charged with any criminal activity.

Sources close to Heather have since told People that her family and friends had been “desperately” trying to help her overcome various issues leading up to Sunday’s incident.

“[Heather] is clearly not getting the proper medical and mental health help she needs,” one insider explained. “It’s not just about rehab for addiction issues, but about getting a proper evaluation and help for the underlying mental health issues.”

The source added: “She isolates herself, which only feeds into the other issues. Of course, you can’t force someone to get help — they have to want to — but it’s hard for someone who is sick to make smart choices and keep at it.”

Heather made headlines this past February after she allegedly hit her boyfriend and kicked three police officers who responded to the incident, resulting in her arrest on suspicion of domestic violence and battery on a police officer. She was later charged with one felony count of domestic violence and banned from owning a firearm.

Heather sought treatment for anxiety and depression in June 2008. Later that year, she was charged with a DUI for driving under the influence of prescription drugs.

Here’s to hoping she gets some much-needed help — and soon…
