White roses are beautiful as they are, but if you’re in the mood for a fun DIY project for a holiday party or special occasion, there’s an easy way to brighten up any flower — with any color!

The key to this simple trick? Food coloring! And water, of course, which soaks up the dye straight up to the petals, and you’re left with beautiful shades of blue, pink, green or whatever color your heart desires. You can also split the rose ends into four ends and dip the fours into four cups with each a different color, then it really does look like a rainbow!

This is a great at-home project or experiment for anyone, kids included.
