Acrobat Erendira Wallenda didn’t just make world record history while dangling precariously above Niagara Falls on June 15, 2017 — she also happened to beat her own husband’s previous attempt!
Onlookers gathered by the waterfall to watch as she performed a few tricks within a hoop while raised 300 feet above the water. It was a stunning sight to behold already, but Erendira was just getting started.
Her husband, Nik, had performed a similar feat above Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri, but he only managed to soar 250 feet above the amusement park.
It wasn’t just the height that made this display so unique — after a few of her regular tricks, Erendira bit down on a mouthpiece and let her arms and legs drop to the side, only held in place by the strength of her teeth.
As someone who’s absolutely terrified of heights, I get the heebie-jeebies just thinking about someone pulling off this unbelievable stunt!
But at the same time, I couldn’t tear my eyes away as I watched the video below. You just can’t deny the impressive skill it takes to tackle both the physical and emotional aspects involved in this daredevil routine.
Take a look to see the incredible stunt and hear more from Erendira about how she felt flying above the falls.
