Great Great Grandma Refuses To Sit At Home, So She Goes To Community College And Gets A Degree

by Grace Eire
Grace plays in a band and is the mother to a black cat named Fitzhugh.

When Shirley Fuller was in the tenth grade, her life took a major turn.

She dropped out of school to start a family. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but she made it with confidence and assurance that it was the proper thing to do.

Nearly six decades later, Shirley is fulfilling a dream of hers. This great great grandma is finally graduating!

With nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, Shirley graduated from community college with a degree in business. After all those years, and through all those twists and turns life threw her way, Shirley was finally able to find time to spend on herself.

You never know what surprises life will toss in your direction, but even so, it’s never too late to follow your dreams.

Recently, Shirley lined up in full cap and gown with her peers of Wake Technical Community College to receive her hard-earned and well-deserved degree. The smile on her face really does say it all!

However, she has no intentions of stopping there. Staying at home and wasting the days away doesn’t appeal to Shirley. She plans on going back to school to get another degree in criminal justice.

At 70 years old, this great-great grandmother seems to be doing quite well for herself, don’t you think? It’s never too late to go and fulfill the destiny you see as your very own.
