This story is taking the world by storm, and you’re about to see why.

Two years ago, 69-year-old Kenneth Broskey was diagnosed with cancer. Doctors recently told him he had two weeks to live. Instead of thinking of himself, Kenneth immediately thought of his family, and was struck with concern for his daughter and her family. Kenneth was worried she wouldn’t be able to afford her $95,000 mortgage after he passes away. That’s when Kenneth decided to do the unthinkable.

He began working to raise money for his family by becoming a driver for Uber, the car service company. That’s right — Kenneth began driving around complete strangers who needed rides, just to raise money for his family. That’s where Kenneth met a man named Ronald.

Kenneth picked up 22-year-old college student, Ronald Gainer. During the car ride, the two men started talking about Kenneth’s grim situation. Ronald knew he wanted to help. Ronald summed up the experience perfectly: “We don’t expect much from an Uber experience, other than good service and a smooth ride, but this trip was different. In just 12 minutes, I met and learned the story of Ken Wayne Broskey, a 70-year -old man who is dying of stage 4 cancer (Oropharyngeal cancer with lung metastases). His doctors have advised him to go to Hospice, but instead he continues to work, trying to make as much money as possible so that when he dies, his daughter and her two children can continue to live in the house they now share with him. As a single mother and waitress, he knows that things will be hard without him and like any good father or grandfather; he worries about and wants to protect and provide for his family.”

Ronald not only set up a GoFundMe account (which, as we’ve seen before, can be hugely successful for people in need), but he also coordinated a fundraiser dinner for Kenneth and his family. So far, the two have raised over $100,000 — exceeding their goal in just six days — and have become fast friends.
