Dogs may not be able to communicate with us using words, but they have their own special ways of telling us they love us.

An adopted golden retriever named Regan expressed just how happy she was to be out of a shelter when it was time to get in the car.

After her owner died, the golden retriever was moved to a shelter in Lebanon, Tennessee. New owner Kim Mozena Rezac spent three days earning the dog’s trust. “You could tell she was scared and afraid. I would go in and give her treats and sit with her and talk,” Kim told Today.

After the golden warmed up to Kim, she decided that she wanted to foster the dog until she could find her a forever home.

Kim lived over two hours away in Huntingdon, Tennessee, and during the car ride, Regan did something amazing: she held her foster mom’s hand!

Kim posted a video to her Facebook that shows the golden putting her paw in Kim’s hand. “She wanted to hold my hand the whole way. If I took it away she would paw at it,” Kim said. “She just wanted to be touching.”

As you’ll see in the video below, Kim moved her hand away from where Regan’s right paw was, but the dog immediately used her other paw to nudge her hand so she had to open her palm! See the entire beautiful interaction below.
