Brother Realizes Sister With Cancer Is In Remission, Then Rides Bike 1,500 Miles Just To See Her

by Jess Butler
Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

Glenn Offerman and his sister, Mandie, had an unbreakable bond that time nor distance could tarnish.

Mandie was finally in remission after battling Stage 4 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

In the video below, posted on June 14, 2017, Mandie seems uncomfortable talking about her sickness, wanting to keep it in her past. She says, “When I finished that last round of chemo, I want to say goodbye to everything, I want to be done with all of it, and move on.”

Although he didn’t ask her permission to make such a journey, Glenn, decided to bike 1,500 miles from Iowa to Sacramento, California at 52 to see Mandie. She definitely had her doubts and wasn’t keen on the idea of such a dangerous trip. However, Glenn posted pictures over the 4 day bike ride, thus instilling faith.

This meant so much to Glenn because he didn’t get to spend much time with his brother, Mark, before he passed away due to complications from chemotherapy during his own cancer battle.

“If something were to happen and I didn’t seize this opportunity to come see her, that would be just be a regret that I wouldn’t want to live with,” Glenn explains in the video.

Clearly their brother’s passing made this bike journey much more meaningful for the two siblings, who loved each other no matter how far apart they were.

Check out their reunion in the video below, and please SHARE if you think Glenn’s adventure was astounding!
