If you’re a parent, all you want is for your child to be safe and happy at all times. Moms and dads do what they can to give their kids the tools they need to survive even in the most dangerous situations. This is why we start to hear phrases like “don’t talk to strangers” very early on in life!

But nothing could have prepared Catricia Harris’ 8-year-old daughter for the situation she found herself in.

The child was just one out of the 10 or so kids playing in the Wellington Ridge Apartments’ playground. She accidentally lost her shoe, which landed at the edge of the nearby woods.

When she went to go fetch it, a man in a black ski mask emerged. According to her, he tried to grab her, covering her mouth with his hand.

But the little girl fought back with all her might. She couldn’t get a good look at him during the struggle because of the mask.

Unable to match the strength of the child, the potential kidnapper ran away. Her mom is relieved that her daughter was not seriously harmed or taken from her, but she remains shaken by the incident.

Other parents living in the complex with their children have come together, keeping an extra eye out for the intruder to keep the kids safe. Police are still looking for him.

Please SHARE if you’re thankful this child is safe and sound!
