Girl Who Walks Around Clutching Doll With Deployed Dad’s Face Finally Sees Him In The Flesh

She loves discovering and sharing viral videos, watching movies with her Muppet-like poodle mix named Cali, and doing the robot whenever possible.

Alex Gunner, a US Marine, was recently deployed for the second time in just two years. His wife Ashley and their 3-year-old daughter, Maci, miss him terribly whenever he’s gone.

Maci, now with more age and understanding, really struggled with the distance this time around. She and her dad are incredibly close, though they haven’t gotten to spend as much time together as they’d like.

To help ease her separation anxiety, Ashley bought Maci a “Daddy Doll” — a doll with Alex’s photo printed on it. These dolls have become very popular among families with deployed loved ones, as they provide a sense of comfort and closeness while military members are away from home.

In this tear-jerking clip, Ashley tells Maci about a very exciting delivery waiting for her on the front lawn. Alex has just sent her a big surprise. Maci is certain it’s a batch of cookies.

Maci runs outside to find a tall, wrapped box standing upright on the sidewalk. She’s clutching her Daddy Doll like she always does… but little does she know, she’s about to see the man himself.

“We’ve been counting down the days and we are so happy that he has finally returned to us,” Ashley says. “Our hearts are overflowing with joy.”
