A 12-year-old German shepherd is safe and sound after a harrowing ordeal. And when you take a look at this pup’s history, you’ll find out that this isn’t the only one he’s survived!

Marverick’s family took him out for a bathroom break when he suddenly disappeared. They searched high and low along the streets of their neighborhood, and there was no trace of him.

Three days later, Lisa Van Valkenburgh, his owner, was on a walk when she heard strange sounds that sounded like they could be beneath her, though not far off. She made out faint barking, and it turned out that poor Maverick had fallen into a six-foot-deep sinkhole.

The pup is also arthritic, and had been cramped inside the hole for 72 hours before he could be rescued. Firefighters spent over an hour trying to dig him out. When he was saved, veterinarians took another hour to stabilize him.

This isn’t Maverick’s first brush with danger, even possibly death. He was once hit by a car and survived. Another time, he was caught in a raccoon trap. Maverick truly is the ultimate survivor!

Thankfully, Maverick is expected to make a full recovery. We’re hoping he doesn’t encounter anymore dangerous situations!
