If you or someone you know lives or has lived in the great state of Florida, then you have probably experienced something like this before.

Imagine, if you will, taking a walk on your sidewalk and strolling on by your neighborhood storm drain.

And your eyes lead you to a long, reptilian tail sticking directly out of it.

Yep, sounds like Florida, alright!

John Ruel, who lives in Oldsmar, Florida, captured the video below in his neighborhood.

After residents caught the spectacle of what seemed to be an alligator in a storm drain, animal trappers were called to investigate.

The nine-foot gator was stuck, and no matter how much it tried, it just couldn’t free itself.

Ruel filmed as the trapper opened the sewer cover and grasped the large gator’s tail.

But it wasn’t going to be as easy as just yanking the animal out.

The gator, upon realizing that something had latched onto its tail, decided to crawl back deeper into the storm drain, which would just result in it getting even more stuck.

Luckily, the trapper was able to pull the gator free.

“We were happy he was rescued and that he wasn’t hurt,” said Ruel.

The real question is, how did the alligator come to end up in that situation?
