Fans of Game of Thrones have always been impressed by the show’s meticulous attention to detail. That’s why a blunder featuring a coffee cup left in a scene caused such a commotion, with the image going viral almost instantly.
The showrunners and HBO edited it out of the scene so that it won’t appear again in any viewings moving forward.
Obviously, a blunder like that wouldn’t happen again, right? Well, not so fast. It appears that eagle-eyed fans have spotted yet another modern-day item left on set during filming.
During Sunday night’s Game of Thrones series finale, fans spotted another everyday item in King’s Landing. During a scene when the lords of Westeros are deciding who will be the next leader of the seven (sorry, six) kingdoms, the camera pans over to Samwell Tarly.
By his feet, you can spot a plastic water bottle. Twitter user @bethisloco appears to be the first one to have posted about the blunder.
Many fans had a good laugh at the latest production error spotted this season. It’s the third after the coffee cup in episode four and the apparent extra hand on Jaime Lannister in an episode five scene. It’s likely that as with the other errors, the mistake will eventually be removed from the episode.
While fans were laughing at the slip-up, many didn’t find themselves feeling particularly jubilant about the finale as a whole. Fans were largely upset about the show’s last season even before the final episode aired, but the ultimate outcome felt even more unsatisfying to most.
What did you think of the series’ last episode and this new production mistake?
