Colorblind Teen Gets Special Glasses From Friend, Then Loses It When He Sees Blue

by Jess Butler
Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

It’s always the little things that get taken for granted. Whether it’s having a special skill, a rare gift, or simply a type of vision, sometimes we don’t realize how lucky we are to have these abilities.

In the video below, posted on April 5, 2017, an aspiring marine prepares to try on a new pair of glasses his best friend purchased for him. But these are no ordinary glasses.

In fact, they are changing.

“Okay, Brendan, put them on,” the 17-year-old’s mom urges him as she records. Brendan picks up the Enchroma glasses in front of him and takes them out of the package.

Brendan recently passes his Marine Corps entrance exams, which inform him that he is severely colorblind. He doesn’t seem too excited about the Enchroma glasses. Then, he realizes how powerful they are.

He takes a blue and purple balloon and compares them.

Without the glasses, they look the same, but when he puts them on, he sees a vast difference in their beautiful blue and purple hues.

“They look different,” Brendan explains, staring longingly at the two balloons.

Next, he stares at red and green balloons, noticing how completely different the shades are. Suddenly, he completely loses it. He rests his face in his hand, letting out a silent, yet emotional cry.

With these new glasses, Brendan doesn’t feel colorblind anymore.
