When father and husband Rick Such was diagnosed with cancer, his entire life was turned upside down.

He had to quit his job to continue chemotherapy treatment. He sold his car and struggled to make house payments in order to pay for the medical bills that inevitably would pile up. That’s when Rick and his family were nominated for Radio Station KWFC and LaTour Advisory group’s incredible contest.

More than 130 families were nominated for the prize, but Rick’s struggle and courage stood out the most. The radio station went right to Rick’s hospital bed to deliver amazing the prize: an entire year of rent paid in full. They gave the family a giant “check” that Rick and his wife kept closely tucked on his bedside. Considering the massive financial strain, this will surely allow the family to focus on Rick’s health instead of how they are going to pay the bills.

“I don’t know what to say. God is awesome and he’s been with us through this whole thing,” Rick told KY3.

“As we read your story, we were touched,” said benefactor Joe LaTour. “To see that financial burden of having to pay their rent for a year lifted off their shoulders, the tears and the look in their face was worth it all.”
