Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar are one of my favorite celebrity couples.
I’ve been a fan of Sarah’s since she was All My Children‘s very first Kendall Hart, and I’ve continued to admire her all the way through her career-defining role as the title character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Don’t even get me started on how much I loved every single one of Freddie’s many early-2000s romantic comedies! She’s All That, anybody?
This married couple is notoriously private about their family and personal lives, which has probably contributed to their status as one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting couples. But did you know that one very famous person didn’t believe for a second that they’d stay together as long as they have — and even bet against them?
Many years ago, Howard Stern flat-out told Freddie that he didn’t believe the actor’s marriage would last.

On September 2, 2017, Twitter user @FreddyAmazin shared an amazing throwback in honor of the celebrity couple’s anniversary.
Screenshots of Freddie’s interview with Howard Stern back in 2001 recently went viral, thanks to the tweet.
Apparently, the controversial radio host was insistent that Freddie (who was then only recently engaged to Sarah) would eventually want to divorce or cheat on his wife-to-be.
But in 2001, Freddie wasn’t having it at all. “Oh, it absolutely will last!” the actor confidently said.
“You think you’re gonna know how you feel at 35? You’re gonna be a completely different dude,” Howard insisted.
“And she will be a completely different woman, but that’s alright,” the then 25-year-old Freddie perfectly responded.
Freddie maintained that he would never cheat on Sarah, calling her “amazing.”
Howard, still not convinced, bet Freddie $1,000,000 that their marriage wouldn’t even last 10 years.
Freddie and Sarah initially met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer, a whopping 20 years ago in 1997.
They remained just friends for the first few years they knew one another, and then officially started dating in 2000.
“We were just friends. That’s one of the reasons I think our relationship has always been so good,” the actor once told E! News. “We were just friends for a good two years before we ever went on a date.”
“She knew what kind of guy I was. She knew what my morals were, what my priorities were and vice versa. We already kind of knew all the faults in the other person.”
Clearly, those initial years of friendship have paid off — because the couple has blown right past Howard’s 10-year “expiration date”!
The Scooby Doo costars celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on September 1, 2017. Sarah even shared a sweet photo montage featuring one throwback photo from every year of their marriage.
“My husband thinks I’m crazy, but I’m not the one who married me,” the Cruel Intentions actress captioned the post.
The couple also has two children — a daughter named Charlotte born in 2009 and a son named Rocky born in 2012.
All these years later, one thing is clear — these two still only have eyes for each other!
