Frankie has the vivacious energy of any other puppy his age, but you would never guess that this sweet little guy had such a tragic past.
One day, Frankie was found on the side of the road in horrendous condition. A Good Samaritan spotted him and picked him up. They realized that the 3-month-old pit-mastiff mix was covered in duct tape and had several injuries on his body.
So, he was brought over to Tracy Animal Services.
In the video below, posted on October 30, 2017, supervisor Ben Miller explains: “It had duct tape around its muzzle and its front legs, as well as some significant lacerations, significant enough that the skull was visible. And a similar cut on his rear leg.”
Soon, vets treated him, gave him stitches, and installed a temporary drainage pipe for his wounds — making for one miraculous recovery. They even named him “Frankie” after Frankenstein, because of all his stitches.
Now, the tiny puppy is healing and many people have offered to adopt him, ensuring he will have a safe place to live and a loving family from now on. Ben hopes that the person who wrapped Frankie in duct tape will be caught to prevent similar or greater incidents in the future.
