Homeless Florida Woman Fights Off 6-Foot Alligator With Her Bare Hands, Then Calmly Calls 911

by Madison Vanderberg

Felicitie Gillette, 24, almost lost her arm when she was attacked by an alligator in a Florida lake.

Felicitie described her harrowing near-death experience with Inside Edition.

“I was about waist deep,” she told the interviewer. “I was wading in there, and next thing you know, this mouth was just clenching down on my arm. He bit me, and then he let go, and then he latched onto my arm and started like moving his head back and forth.”

As you can hear in the below clip, her 911 call was shockingly calm considering what she had just endured. Felicitie also showcased her bandaged arm, highlighting her terrifying fight against the gator.

Sadly, this news came just two days after another woman lost her life in Hilton Head, South Carolina, where she was dragged into a lake by an alligator.

As for Felicitie — who is homeless and was bathing in the lake when she was attacked — she said her experience was like a message from God.

“I feel like God’s trying to tell me something, and I should probably listen to him,” she said. “I could’ve died; it could’ve taken my arm off. I feel really lucky that that didn’t happen.”

She said that the incident was a sign that she needs to “to get my life right.”

Hear Felicitie tell the story in her own words in the video below.
