Friends and coworkers can get you through the toughest times.

Obviously, they are always there to lend a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on — but in some cases they can offer so much more than that!

This was the case for flight attendant Jenny Stansel and Captain Jodi Harskamp

It all started four years ago after Jodi, an Alaska Airlines pilot, lost everything when her home burned down.

Escaping with her newborn son and dog, she was then cared for by Jenny, who rallied along with other coworkers to offer her food and comfort.

As the two began to work on more of the same flights, Jodi learned that Jenny had been battling a kidney disease for years.

If she did not find a donor to give her a kidney, Jenny could potentially die.

That’s when Jodi stepped up to offer up her kidney — a risk that could end her career as a pilot if the procedure when wrong!

Since then, the two have been preparing for the procedure and raising money online. And though there is a significant health risk, Jodi decided the sacrifice would be worth it.

This story showcases both friendship and sacrifice in their purest form. Check below to learn more about the two friends and the impending transplant.
