Daughter With Cerebral Palsy Becomes Instagram-Famous After Mom Secretly Posts Her Photos Online

by Jess Butler
Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

After Christina and Josh Smallwood found out they had fertility issues and couldn’t get pregnant on their own, they looked into domestic adoption. Then, the little girl they adopted sent them on an emotional roller coaster ride that they wouldn’t trade for the world.

Finley Smallwood was born nine weeks early and came out with a brain bleed. She spent the next five weeks recovering in the hospital, and doctors warned Christina and Josh that their new daughter could possibly develop disabilities in the future.

In the video below, Christina explains, “Finley was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 15 months old. It really was a life-changing moment for us.”

She later adds, “I was very, very depressed, post-diagnosis. And so, I spent a lot of hours just scouring the internet, trying to find other moms that I could just connect with — and there really wasn’t that many.”

Then, Christina finally found a mom who was a huge advocate for her son with cerebral palsy.

Taking a note from that woman’s book, Christina decided to create a secret account and post photos of Finley to help both of them cope and find positivity in her child’s cerebral palsy diagnosis. She didn’t tell anyone about it until the page started to grow.

Since then, Finley’s Instagram page garnered over 112,000 followers. Hear the full story and check out what Finley looks like today in the video below!

Finally, please SHARE if you’re glad this little girl and her mom have found a way to celebrate who she is!
