Many people dedicate a lot of time to losing weight, but we don’t often think of that as something an animal needs to do.

Saying a cat needs to lose five pounds probably doesn’t sound that extreme, but five pounds on a cat is actually a lot more than you think. The same goes for small dog breeds.

The average weight for a dachshund starts out at 16 pounds. Given that these dogs are small and typically low to the ground, you’d never expect them to get very big.

But one 7-year-old dachshund’s weight skyrocketed so much, he earned himself the nickname “Fat Vincent!”

Vincent was surrendered to K9 Angels Rescue in Houston weighing a massive 38 pounds.

His extreme weight led to some serious medical issues.

But surprisingly, Vincent’s health has taken a turn for the better. According to CNN, Vincent has lost half his body weight and is currently at 17 pounds!

Just look at the difference a healthy doggy diet and exercise made for this pooch.
