Family Feud host Steve Harvey has heard some pretty wild answers from contestants over the years. From the downright strange to ones that would make your mother blush, he’s heard so many odd things blurted out by players under pressure.

But it was a “safe” answer from a player named Jim that made Steve bust out laughing.

The Van Matre family was asked, “Name something people slide across their lips.”

While this could elicit some unusual responses, Jim didn’t hesitate one bit and answered Steve with “gravy.” Knowing his word might be weird, Jim started laughing along with his family.

In the video below, Steve doubles over laughing at Jim’s answer. He even has to step away from the family for a moment to let out his laughs.

“You’re just trying to give the safest answer,” Steve laughs. “That ain’t up here!”

Certain that “gravy” will not appear on the board, Steve shouts the answer expecting a big red X to appear. But instead, gravy is counted as a food and the answer nabs the fifth spot with two points for the family.

As you’ll see in the clip below, without hesitation, Steve, who now must eat his words, throws his note card into the air in defeat. While the Van Matres celebrate Jim’s answer, Steve walks off stage with his head down in shame for being wrong.
