Ellen DeGeneres’ show is returning for its 17th season. The beloved comedian and talk show host spent her first day back on set talking about her summer break — which included a very exciting first-time meeting with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
“Here’s a sentence I never thought I would say, but I spent the afternoon with Prince Harry and Meghan … just want to say it was an honor for them to meet me,” she joked to her audience.
Ellen says they talked about their shared passion for wildlife conservation. The royal couple are preparing to embark on their tour of Africa, where they’ll continue their efforts in Botswana regarding the welfare of elephants. And since Ellen and wife Portia de Rossi are huge advocates for the endangered gorillas in Rwanda, she says the four of them are in talks to combine their powers and help even more animals.
Ellen also got to meet, hold, and feed Meghan and Harry’s 4-month-old son, Archie — who she says now weighs 15 pounds.
Ellen also touched upon the recent controversy surrounding Harry and Meghan’s use of private jets and quickly came to their defense.
See what she had to say about her royal experience in the clip below.
