It hasn’t been an easy week for Ellen DeGeneres.

The TV host had to evacuate her home and seek safety when rain caused massive mudslides in Montecito, California, on January 9, 2018. She and her wife Portia had returned home 10 days earlier after evacuating when wildfires threatened the area.

As if that wasn’t enough stress, Ellen is also mourning the death of her father, Elliott DeGeneres, who passed away sometime earlier this week.

During her January 11 show, Ellen addressed the audience and spoke candidly about her father’s life and death. She explained that he lived a happy life and was 92 years old when he died.

She also shared some information about him on social media. On Instagram, she wrote: “This week, at the age of 92, my father, Elliott DeGeneres, passed away. He lived a good long life. It wasn’t unexpected. I was able to say goodbye.”

In addition, she told a touching story about the only vacation they went on as a kid: a visit to Warner Bros. Studios. On the day he died, Ellen looked up over her own stage at Warner Bros. and saw a stunning rainbow.
