In this awesome video, tourists capture a magical scene while visiting an elephant nature park. As a young woman walked by a group of elephants, they decided it was time to play and did something truly remarkable to get her attention.
As she approached the enclosure, the one elephant decided he wanted to play catch and threw a tiny rock in her direction. She couldn’t believe her eyes. After discussing with her friends, she decided to join in the game and throw a small rock back into the enclosure (not at the animal). The elephant quickly picks up the stone again and throws it right back. (This reminds me of the dog who tricked a stranger into an endless game of fetch.)
Over the next two minutes, the pair end up playing a couple rounds of catch.
Can you imagine if you were in her shoes? This seems like such a fun moment!
Elephants are among the world’s most intelligent species, expressing a wide variety of behaviors, including those associated with learning, grief, compassion, and humor! This video helps you see just how quickly they can learn what they like.
Like many zoos, this elephant conservation program is designed to increase appreciation, amazement, and wonder for these great animals, resulting in the protection of elephants for future generations.
