In Harbor Springs, Michigan, the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society runs an event called “Empty the Shelters.” Hosted in conjunction with other shelters across Michigan, it helps over 2,500 animals find new homes and get adopted every year.

This time around, Eastwood was not so lucky.

Eastwood is an adorable 1-year-old red Labrador born with a deformed back leg. And after the Empty the Shelters event, Eastwood was the last dog standing.

No one wanted to adopt him.

So one of the employees of the Little Traverse Bay Humane Society posted about Eastwood on their Facebook page:

“Poor Eastwood is so lonely now that all of his pals have been adopted! Eastwood is the only dog left at the shelter after Empty the Shelters on Saturday, but we know the perfect home is out there somewhere.

This amazing boy has a few health issues that need to be addressed (which is why we think he was abandoned initially, poor guy!), but this boy is so sweet, we know it will be well worth it.”

And in no time at all, the post went viral. To date, it has received over 2,000 shares and nearly 2,000 likes.

But that’s not all.

“It was absolutely astounding,” said Jessica Evans, who handles marketing with the shelter. “I’ve been here for nearing four years, and I’ve never seen anything like it.”
