My dad is very proud of his Eagle Scout status, so I know first hand how hard Boy Scouts have to work to achieve that coveted title.

Ty Bingham, an 18-year-old Eagle Scout from California, has taken that necessary hard work and dedication to an entirely new level by earning all 137 possible Eagle Scout merit badges.

According to the official Eagle Scout website, Scouts need at least 21 badges to be eligible for Eagle status (and that is only one of multiple requirements), but Ty went above and beyond that number.

To earn a badge, a Scout needs to gain a skill or complete a project. Some badges include an American Cultures badge, a Farm Mechanics badge, and a Lifesaving badge.

You can check out a full list of all possible badges on the Boy Scout website. Ty has earned every last one of them!

Ty says that, since 1910, only 333 Scouts (out of about 104 million total!) have earned all 137 badges. He is part of that tiny percentage.

Obviously, Ty and his family are incredibly proud of his impressive achievement. Ty’s father and grandfather are both Eagle Scouts themselves, but Ty is the first in the family to earn all possible merit badges.
