Sometimes, we just have bad days when it seems like everything is falling down and collapsing around us, and there’s nothing we can do.

Maybe it’s the declining health of a loved one, or looming financial issues  — anything can seem like an insurmountable mountain, and these problems affect us throughout the day.

One woman couldn’t avoid letting go of what was going through her mind while driving one day in May 2017. She seemed anxious when she violated one of the rules of the road.

Gloucester Township police officer caught her and pulled her over. While talking to her and hearing her reason for the violation, Officer Tom Sherman saw that she wasn’t herself and made an effort to calm her nerves.

The cop’s dash cam caught everything. He explained that he was not going to give her a ticket. He understood that she was going through a very difficult time.

The woman, still in the car, asked him if she could get out. Why? She just wanted to give him a thank-you hug! The cop couldn’t help but say yes, and the two embraced.

The footage, posted by the Gloucester Township police, has gotten thousands of views. Many praised the cop for his sincerely heartfelt gesture.
