Carefree 107-Year-Old Man Is Still Driving And Doesn’t Plan To Stop … Maybe Ever

It’s a little ridiculous that, as people, we only need to pass our driver’s test once. When we get older, driving a car can get a little more challenging.

Because we’re not all Joe Newman of Sarasota, Florida.

Joe is currently 107 years old and still driving like a champ. He owns a bright red convertible — a bucket list purchase — and drives throughout the neighborhood. Unlike many who are around his age, physical limitations have not yet stopped him from driving. He’s a careful driver, too, making sure to always keep his eyes on the road and use his signals when need be.

Not many of us think about where we’d be at 107 years old.

In fact, the age itself is impressive. Joe is still acting a lot like your standard 70-year-old. He’s engaged to his fiancée Anita, who’s nearing 100, and he loves to crack jokes. He says that the secret to living to such an old age is to “simply keep breathing.”

Anita admitted that sometimes she can get a little scared with Joe behind the wheel, but he seems to have a pretty clean record so far. Most of his trips are local, so he’s not making cross-country trips. You may assume that the ability to drive independently may be one of the reasons why he’s lived so long. He seems to be happy and carefree and able to take care of himself.

Let Joe serve as a reminder that age should never be a deterrent when it comes to completing your dreams. Watch this video from Inside Edition to see what Joe looks like with the wind in his hair.
