In 2011, the Bretzius family thought they’d found their dream home in Auburn, Pennsylvania. The big house was built nearly a century ago and has been occupied by many tenants over the years.
It was an easy move for the couple and their four kids, and the inspector signed off quickly. But he did miss something.
Kajia Bretzuis and her husband decided to add some insulation to their baby’s nursery. But when they opened up the walls, a disgusting stench permeated and the mold made some family members sick.
That’s when they discovered the walls were already full of things that made Kajia “shocked, horrified and disgusted.”
Behind layers of drywall were dozens of dead animal carcasses wrapped in old newspapers from the 1930s and 40s! There were also other strange items stuffed into the walls, like half-used containers of herbs and spices.
After spending $20,000 on fixes and repairs, which weren’t covered by their insurance policy, the “horror behind the walls” drained the family’s savings.
Feeling both disturbed and curious, Kajia sent the dead carcasses off to an expert. But she never expected to uncover a theory involving spells, witchcraft and dark divination.
