Barry is a single father of three boys. His oldest son Eddie, 20, helps him take care of his 14-year-old twin brothers, Dan and Andrew — but it’s no easy feat, to say the least. Both twins have been blind since birth.
Andrew has cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder and uses a wheelchair. Dan is legally blind and has autism.
For over 13 years, Barry has been responsible for raising his children alone. He says their mother had a drug problem and had to be removed from the family. As a result, Barry eventually had to give up his own business due to Andrew’s seizures, meningitis and surgeries. It was impossible for him to continue running his business while taking care of his kids.
Meanwhile, Barry and his sons were living in their grandfather’s house in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. However, the home was not accessible for his boys, especially Andrew. Barry desperately wanted to provide his sons with a properly equipped home, but his own family passed away and he had no one to turn to. He shared his story with the media, hoping someone, somewhere, would help him in any way possible.
Three months later, anonymous strangers began emerging from the woodwork, changing the lives of Barry and his three boys.
