Dolly Parton Belts Spine-Tingling A Cappella Version Of ‘Jolene’ With Pentatonix

Jess grew up in Oklahoma before moving to New York to become a writer. She has a cat named Agnes.

It takes an especially talented musician to not only write a hit song, but one that’s as timeless as the example seen below.

Of course, it’s understandable considering Dolly Parton is one of the greatest musicians we’ve ever had on our planet. The powerhouse country star has made monumental strides for women in the entertainment industry over her decades in the business.

Now at 70, she doesn’t show any signs of slowing down as she hits the road again with her most recent tour to promote her newest album, Pure & Simple.

For this performance, though, Parton takes a break from selling out arenas to stand in a more humble setting and croon one of her classic hits, “Jolene.” Cracker Barrel also brought in the a cappella singers of Pentatonix to give the rendition a totally unique new sound.

I have to say, I’ve probably listened this song about a million times in my life, but hearing this version gave me chills like it was the first time I’d ever heard the cautionary tale of a crimson-haired woman tempting the singer’s man to stray.

With Parton’s crisp vocals leading the way, all of their voices blend together in such a hauntingly beautiful way that it breathes a whole new life into the song from 1973.

Be sure to watch the very end to see Parton’s adorable reaction when they’re done.

And don’t forget to SHARE the spine-tingling performance with your friends!
