By the age of 2, a dog named Ellen was homeless on the streets of Chicago. She looked so much like a pile of trash that people would pass her by.
When rescuers finally found her in July 2014, they described her as “a clump of pungent urine-soaked matted fur.”
The amazing team at the Trio Animal Foundation took Ellen off the streets. At first, they couldn’t even tell if she was a boy or a girl, or which end was front or back. The dog was so matted that her back legs dragged across the floor.
A wonderful groomer named Kelli agreed to come into work early to get started on shaving away her past abuse, buried in two pounds of matted fur.
Within 10 minutes, the staff discovered Ellen was an adorable little girl. And three hours later, the transformation was complete.
It’s amazing Ellen survived as long as she did with her matted fur. Look at her tiny frame!
After her haircut, Ellen was bathed and given her first leash, toys, and a warm dog bed…. and the Foundation found her the perfect home.
It’s incredible what just a little bit of love (and a good pair of scissors) can do. Please SHARE Ellen’s transformation with your friends on Facebook!
