In early February 2018, a dog was found tied to a tree in the woods in Prince George County, Virginia. A heartbreaking message from his previous owner was attached to his collar.

The note, which was posted on Facebook in full by Rob Cardwell, read:

Hi my name is Zues. I am a very good dog my owner just can’t afford me anymore. She tried to find me a home but nobody would take me. My birthdate is 07/05/15. I am still very young and energetic. I am good with kids and cats but I get scared when meeting new dogs. Please find me a good home to go to.

Ps. Male husky/black lab mix. He is fixed but not up to date on his shots. I am left with no other options for him. I hate to do this but I just can not afford him anymore.

Luckily, someone found Zeus. He was rescued by the Prince George County Animal Shelter. Now, the sweet dog has found his forever family.

On February 10, the shelter posted on Facebook and told everyone that Zeus had been adopted by wonderful owners.

They also told their followers that instead of abandoning an animal outside, you can contact a local shelter. Many offer financial assistance, pet food, and other goods, including the option to surrender your pet.

If you think everyone should know that they can always reach out to animal shelters for help, please SHARE this article with your friends!
