I love any opportunity to tackle an original and creative DIY project.

As a result, I am always on the lookout for new projects to tackle, like this porch swing that cost less than $80 to make.

However, I don’t always have tons of time to devote to building something.

And when I spotted this latest DIY project, I was very impressed with the end result — but I thought it would take forever to make.

But when I took a closer look, I realized I was so wrong. At first, I thought it was a gorgeous porch swing. Instead, it turned out to be one of the quickest DIY projects I’ve seen yet.

In fact, it only took this DIYer an hour to make, and it has turned into one of my absolute favorite backyard DIY ideas.

Using leftover popsicles sticks from the house, this DIYer was able to make an incredible porch swing bird feeder!

And by utilizing leftover scraps of wood to make the "seat," he spent absolutely no money on the project at all.

He used wood glue to create two small wooden rectangles to serve as the seat and the back for the swing.

He covered the back portion with popsicles sticks to give it a finished feel.

He connected the seat portion to the upright back portion, allowing plenty of time for the glue to dry.

Within the seat, he placed a small screen so that rain water would be able to drain out and keep the seeds dry.

He attached string to the seat so it could hang properly, and applied a light layer of waterproof staining oil to protect it from the rain.
