Diana Ross is one of the most iconic recording artists of all time. Every person knows all the words to at least one of Diana’s many hit songs.
But did you know that she also has a huge, beautiful family?
Diana, who rose to prominence as the lead singer of Motown group the Supremes, attended the American Music Awards on November 19, 2017. The 73-year-old music legend was set to receive the AMA’s Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s ceremony.
One of Diana’s daughters, Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross, was already hosting this year’s AMAs. But Diana decided to bring along the rest of her big family to the ceremony to celebrate her well-deserved honor.
Diana hit the red carpet with her kids, their spouses, and her grandkids in tow. However, it was a moment that took place later in the evening that had everyone talking about Diana’s amazing family.
During a performance of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” near the end of the night, the songstress invited her young grandkids up on stage with her. While three of the four kids danced in a slightly reserved manner as Diana belted out the iconic song, one of the little boys busted some serious moves.
Raif-Henok Emmanuel Kendrick, the 8-year-old son of Diana’s daughter Rhonda Ross Kendrick, had everybody talking (and tweeting!) when he danced his little heart out onstage with his famous grandma. Diana eventually brought the rest of her family up during her acceptance speech. The sweet young boy even had the chance to take the mic and tell his grandma how proud he was of her. Then, he closed out the show by reading the goodnight messages off the teleprompter at Diana’s encouragement.
What an adorable moment! Dancing and music must be in the Ross family’s blood, don’t you think?
