Most celebrities would have you believe their bodies snap back to perfect form seconds after they give birth, but frankly, that’s just not the case.
Daphne Oz, cookbook author and the daughter of television’s Dr. Oz, recently appeared on The Rachael Ray Show to discuss the challenges of accepting her body after having three children.
The mom was constantly showing off her body while pregnant with her third, but she found herself disappointed by the stretch marks and lack of a “bounce back” in the weeks that followed. She also knew that she couldn’t be the only one who had dealt with these feelings.
“I wanted the women who follow me to realize we’re in this part of it together, too,” Daphne says.
So two months after giving birth, Daphne shared a picture of her body in nothing but underwear that was both honest and brave. “I wanted to be as forthcoming and as vulnerable about the aftermath of having a kid,” she says. “I don’t hate my body even though it doesn’t look exactly how it used to look. I love my body!”
Daphne’s also not one to go on an insane diet to get her old look back. The cookbook author admits to making herself celebratory treats that are still healthy, and trying to find time for the gym and enjoy a long shower. You’ve got to treat yourself every now and again!
