Captain Daniel Smith is currently stationed 7,600 miles away from his home, his daughters  Abby and McKenzie  and his girlfriend, Lindsey.

For her 11th birthday, McKenzie was taken to Tropicana Field in Florida for a baseball game between the hometown Tampa Bay Rays and the Kansas City Royals.

Although Captain Smith couldn’t be there for his daughter’s birthday, he still wanted to send her a special surprise message.

So, in between innings, Lindsey, Abby, and McKenzie were given an iPad with a video message on it.

And that same message was shown to the entire crowd at the game via a massive screen in the stadium!

Captain Smith came up on the screen and wished his daughter a very happy birthday.

But in the video below, you will see that the captain actually had not one, but two special messages he wanted to share.

The second one was directed to Lindsey!

She was completely caught off-guard. Nonetheless, she gazed up at the screen with a wide smile on her face.

But that smile would only get wider once she saw Captain Smith’s message!

“Lindsey Chapman, will you marry me?” he said.

The soldier then lifted up a red engagement ring box!

But where was the ring?

Check it out in the video below! If you’d like to see more footage from the Rays, check out their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and please SHARE this video on Facebook!
