The plot thickens!

Only hours after TMZ first broke reports of Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin’s alleged pregnancy, Dakota’s reps have gone on record to deny the rumors.

TMZ’s story shared photos and video footage of a party at the Coldplay frontman’s house this past Saturday. Featuring conspicuous pink and blue balloon arches and attended by their closest family and friends, it sure seemed as if the celebration pictured was a gender reveal party for a baby. But when People reached out to their reps for comment, the 29-year-old actress’ team flat-out said it wasn’t true.

According to Dakota’s rep, she was simply celebrating her October 4 birthday a few days belatedly with a party at the singer’s house.

Their response did not address why they had specifically pink and blue balloons at the party (or why the blue arch was released into the air at some point during the festivities). Interestingly, Dakota’s mom Melanie Griffith shared an Instagram video clip of the blue balloons in the sky over Malibu, presumably taken during the shindig.

While some still aren’t convinced that Dakota isn’t pregnant, all we can do is take her word for it. Besides, it’s the couple’s news to share or keep private — and based on how low-key they’ve been for the entirety of their relationship, we’re guessing they’d want to keep something as major as a baby on the way a secret for as long as possible.

In the meantime, if you’re a horror buff, you can check out the trailer for the upcoming Suspiria remake (starring Dakota) below.
