A dad is extremely lucky to be alive today after he was struck by lightning while playing golf on a Friday afternoon with some friends from work.

Justin Hofer has finally been upgraded to stable condition after he was rushed to University Medical Center in Las Vegas in critical condition, according to KTVX Salt Lake City.

The weather reportedly turned nasty quite quickly, and the group of golfers couldn’t escape it in time. That’s when Justin was struck.

He collapsed to the ground, his body engulfed in flames. His friends and bystanders assisted him by using jackets to put out the fire while waiting for emergency crews to respond.

Justin’s wife says that CPR was performed after his heart had stopped twice, and they used a defibrillator to shock his heart back into rhythm.

After the ordeal, this father and husband is incredibly lucky. He suffered burns and some minor heart damage, but nothing that will disrupt daily activities after he recovers. He’s already up and walking!

It may take him a while to go back to his usual life and routine, but he’s well on the path to a full recovery.

You can still help the dad by donating to or sharing the family’s GoFundMe page.
