Every summer, new styles come into fashion. From skirts and dresses to hats and shoes, there are always new trends out there.

One shoe style that will never go out of fashion, however, is the woven summer sandal.

Woven sandals have long been a summer wardrobe staple because they offer the slip-on ease of sandals while still looking stylish and pulled-together.

The only problem? Finding ones that won’t break the bank. Shoes are notoriously expensive, and if you can only wear them for one season, they often don’t seem worth the money.

Fortunately, as we saw with the woman who made knock-off designer shoes for next to nothing, it’s easy to recreate an expensive look on the cheap.

That’s exactly what Ashleigh Kiser of Sewrella decided to do after she realized she could make some adorable crocheted sandals herself. Shoe hacks like this one or this clever bridal one are great ways to save money!

Using some simple black flip-flops that she bought for $1, Ashleigh made her very own woven sandals — for so much less money than they would have been at the store. She’s a busy mom; she’s not about to spend her hard-earned bucks on pricey shoes!

Since Ashleigh already knew how to crochet, it was easy for her to complete the shoes: All she had to do was poke holes around the edge of the sole, then use her handy crochet hooks to create one-of-a-kind sandals.

Would you wear crocheted sandals like these?
