A criminal in Missouri got caught in the most embarrassing way possible.

On Tuesday, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office tweeted that a man with a felony warrant for his arrest had been hiding from the police outside of Liberty, Missouri.

He was wanted for possession of a controlled substance.

The department posted a photo of officers using police dogs as part of their search … but they probably didn’t need the dog’s help to find this particular victim’s scent.

As officials were looking for the man, he passed gas so loudly that it gave up his hiding spot.

“We’ve gotta give props to Liberty Police for using their senses to sniff him out!” the sheriff’s office wrote.

Officials have opted not to reveal any further details about the case at this time, though we’d love to know the look on this man’s face when he realized that he was heading to jail because of a fart, of all things.

To be fair, though, it’s really not healthy to hold in a fart — what was he supposed to do?!

The official Twitter account for the city of Liberty tweeted that it was “surprised” to see the incident “slip out.”

“Thanks to Clay County Sheriff’s Office for airing out a wanted person’s dirty laundry and fanning the flames,” the tweet said.

“Fortunately, no one was injured during his arrest #nervousbelly,” it continued.

You can’t make this stuff up!
