Joetta and Mal McCluskey of Overland Park, Kansas City, had a rough couple of weeks. First, an unidentified individual hacked into Joetta’s checking account. Then, to make matters worse, Joetta was about to pay at a store when she suddenly realized that her cell phone case, which doubled as a wallet and contained all her credit cards, was gone.
“All of my cards were in my phone case,” Joetta recalled. “So when we got to the register I’m getting ready to pay, and I don’t see my phone case. Like everything with my driver’s license, my credit cards, my baby’s insurance card in there.”
Little did she know, the cell phone case had been found.
They received a knock on their door later on.
“My first thought was no one is going to turn in a phone with all those credit cards in it,” Joetta said.
Mal, her husband, looked and when he saw a stranger timidly knocking on their door, he just figured it was a door-to-door salesman.
That is, until he saw what the man was holding in his hand.
“Then I saw a pink cell phone case, and I was moved to hug another grown man,” Mal said, laughing.
The stranger, named Dwight, had seen the case on the ground in the parking lot where Joetta had been shopping, and using the address on the license inside, decided to personally return it to her.
And his actions earned him a karmic response.
