ALERT ALERT: Chrissy Teigen, aka the queen of celebrity cookbooks, is officially getting her own cooking show.
She’s collaborating with chef David Chang (of Ugly Delicious fame) for a new cooking show on Hulu called Family Style.
Chrissy and David will cohost the new show, which sounds like it’s about home cooking and traditions. That makes sense, because that’s definitely Chrissy’s specialty.
And there’s even more good news. Not only are Chrissy and David hosting the new cooking show, but they’re also producing a whole new lineup of food programs for Hulu. Another show includes Eater’s Guide to the World, a series about the world’s most interesting and yummy cuisines.
These shows are a first for Hulu. The network has never ventured into food programming before, and honestly, it picked two great people for the job. People have been begging Chrissy to get her own cooking show for years, ever since she blew every home chef’s mind with her Cravings cookbook in 2016.
It’s been three years since Chrissy released Cravings and officially transitioned from a former model/hilarious TV personality into everyone’s favorite recipe author.
People still rave about the recipes in the book. Last year, Chrissy followed up with a sequel, Cravings: Hungry for More.
These days, Chrissy is really leaning into her calling as a recipe guru. She has her own line of cookware, and she previously announced that she’s building a recipe website (with videos!).
And now Chrissy is getting her very own cooking show. FINALLY.
Chrissy and David Chang are hosting the new show, Family Style, on Hulu. For Chrissy, who had a whole section of her cookbook called “Thai Mom,” the name seems very appropriate!
In addition to hosting, Chrissy and David will be involved behind the scenes as production partners for all of Hulu’s new food programming.
Chrissy’s production company, Suit & Thai Productions, along with two other production companies — David’s Majordomo Media and Vox Media Studios — began a multiyear partnership with Hulu. They’ll develop and produce original food programs.
It’s a new move for the network — Hulu has plenty of great original programming, but none in the food realm so far.
The new lineup will be called Hulu Kitchen.
David announced the partnership in a press release:
“I’m hoping we can keep integrating new perspectives into the conversation, telling compelling stories about our culture, and trying to change people’s ideas of what food television can and should do.”
“I think there’s an audience out there that understands and celebrates the world through food, and they’re hungry for shows that feed their sense of curiosity in new ways.”
David is a world-renowned chef with an incredible amount of influence in the restaurant world. He’s the founder of the Momofuku restaurant group and the host of the Netflix hit show Ugly Delicious.
Chrissy, too, has appeared on food television. She hosted a show on the Cooking Channel called Chrissy Teigen’s Hungry, in which she and John Legend went on tastings for their wedding menu.
But this new cooking show, Family Style, seems like an exciting new foray for both David and Chrissy.
The two have been friends for years, ever since Chrissy became a regular at David’s Noodle Bar.
David says he began cooking at home more often when his wife was pregnant with their first child.
“It’s reminded me of why I got into this business, to make someone feel joy and happiness through food,” he said, per The Hollywood Reporter.
Meanwhile, home cooking is Chrissy’s specialty. Cookbooks aside, she shows off her home-cooking skills on her social media feeds on a regular basis.
And soon, we can actually WATCH HER MAKE STUFF.
We have our eyes and ears peeled for a release date!
