If you think the mania surrounding Avengers: Endgame has come to an end, think again. The initial promotional period for the film has been completed, but members of the star-studded cast are still everywhere discussing their characters.
Recently, some of those stars stopped by ACE Comic Con in Seattle, Washington, to do a panel on the megahit film. Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, and Chris Evans were in attendance. Fans were asking questions during a fan segment when suddenly Chris walked offstage.
If you’re thinking that Captain America found himself having a diva moment during the Comic Con panel, think again. In one of the purest moves ever, Chris noticed there was a dog in the audience.
He made his way over to the pooch, who was dressed up as Iron Man for the special event. Chris considers himself a dog enthusiast. He’s gushed about dogs in interviews, including his own rescue, Dodger.
The cast of Avengers: Endgame are some of the hottest stars out there right now. Not only was the film full of the heroes we’ve grown to love over the past decade, but the movie was jam-packed with emotions that Marvel fans are still reeling from.
Although the film came out in April, the cast is still busy at work. As fans prepare for the next phase of what Marvel has in store, they want their burning questions about all things Avengers answered. Many of the stars of the film will spend the summer talking to fans on the convention circuit.
Fans in Seattle recently had their chance with ACE Comic Con. The event brought together Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, and Chris Evans for a panel discussion. Following their initial interview, fans had the opportunity to ask them questions.
With die-hard fans, you can expect some tricky questions. A fan asked Chris about time continuity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for example. ComicBook.com reports he handled the tough question well, explaining, “You know, I’m not sure I can give you those answers. That’s weak as [expletive], but ask the writers.”
Chris followed up by adding, “Look, I understand there’s a lot of things you can question about the time continuity but if there’s one thing I’ve learned about working with Marvel, they don’t leave stones unturned. They really don’t.”
It was shortly after that moment when fans were treated to one of the sweetest sights out there. As moderator Angélique Roché posed questions to his castmates, Chris walked over to the edge of the stage and hopped off it. Fans were initially unsure of what was going on.
Then Chris approached a dog who was in the audience with its owner. The dog was dressed up as Iron Man for the special occasion. Chris, an avid dog lover, couldn’t resist the urge to go pet the sweet pup. It was a moment that melted everyone’s hearts.
The quick gesture did cause a small commotion. Fans’ attention was split between the questions being answered ontage and Chris cuddling the sweet dog. Later on, the stars from the panel were joined by Zoe Saldana and Josh Brolin.
Fans of the Captain America star know that he’s a serious dog lover. Chris adopted his own dog, Dodger, in 2016 while filming the movie Gifted. He shared the video of their very first meeting on Twitter, and it’s seriously sweet.
Chris actually named the good boy after his favorite Disney character. In 2017, Esquire revealed why Chris chose the name for the mixed breed boxer: “As a kid, he loved the Disney animated movie Oliver & Company, and his favorite character was Dodger.”
He talked to People about the moment he knew they were meant for each other. “One of the last scenes we were filming was in a pound, a kennel,” Chris recalled. “I foolishly walked in and I thought, ‘Are these actor dogs or are these real up for adoption dogs?’ And sure enough they were, so I was walking up and down the aisles and saw this one dude and he didn’t belong there.”
“I snagged him and he’s such a good dog. They aged him at about one, he acts like a puppy, he’s got the energy of a puppy, he’s just such a sweetheart, he’s such a good boy,” Chris added. “He loves dogs, he loves kids, he’s full of love.”
Chris even credits Dodger with helping him stay in excellent shape. “Playing with him is exercise, he’s exhausting,” he laughed. “He’s up for anything. God, dogs, they’re such great animals. I really can’t say enough about dogs, I’m a dog lunatic. He sleeps on my pillow, you wake up face-to-face.”
Chris has already proven himself to be one of the good guys in Hollywood. He’s compassionate and caring. His bond with Dodger and all the good boys and girls of the world is just the icing on the Captain America cake.
