Chloë Sevigny has surprised fans with some exciting news: She is currently around five months pregnant with her first child!
The actress was recently photographed with her partner, Sinisa Mackovic, on an outing in New York, and it was impossible not to notice the baby bump. Chloë and Sinisa have been together for over a year, and this is the first child for both of them.
In the photos, Chloë and Sinisa gleefully walk around the city together, casually chatting and rubbing her belly. While neither couple has acknowledged the pregnancy on their personal Instagram accounts, TMZ broke the story with the photos.
Sinisa is the director of the Karma Art Gallery in New York, while Chloë has steadily worked as an actor throughout the years since her breakout role in 1995’s Kids. She gave a powerhouse performance as Jennie, a teenage girl who is unexpectedly diagnosed with HIV. She has most recently been seen as Mrs. Shepherd in 2019’s Queen & Slim.
Chloë hasn’t spoken about parenthood often, except to tell W magazine that she thinks not having had a child yet is what keeps her looking young. In 2016, she explained, “I think the baby wear and tear and stress on your body is part of the reason why people say, ‘Why do you still look so young?’ I really think that that, unfortunately, ages women, especially when they have children in their 30s, not in their 20s. So I think, first and foremost, it’s that and genetics.”
Prior to the release of these new photos, Chloë had most recently been photographed wearing loose dresses. Pregnancy rumors weren’t flying, so it looks like Chloë was able to successfully keep her pregnancy under wraps until she was ready to talk about it.
Known as a breakout star of the 1990s, Chloë has been working in Hollywood ever since her role in Kids made her more of a known name. In fact, she has been working steadily for over 20 years. In a 2016 interview with Interview magazine, she was asked about making the transition from film to TV and said, “I feel like the TV stuff is fiercer, and so then they try and get you to come in as a guest star so they don’t have to pay you.”
She went on to add, “I feel like actors are really getting the short end right now. And I feel like now there’s too many movies, I feel like there’s too much content. A lot of the micro-budget stuff is what I get offered and it’s such a commitment to do those really mini movies.”
However, Chloë also noted that she loves small films … when they’re done right. “The Alex Ross Perry film I did, Golden Exits, was a pretty small budget. But I loved that part and I love him and it was shooting around the corner from my house and that was very convenient. But a lot of them are in weird, remote locations and you’re going to be in a crappy hotel.”
At the end of the day, Chloë is just the type of person who knows what she likes. “You have to really love the project and really be into the director, unless you’re young and you don’t care and you just want to be on the road. But I’m at a place right now where I like certain comforts, and then you don’t want to be irritable because you aren’t getting those certain comforts.”
There aren’t a lot of details available about how she and Sinisa met, though it could be theorized that their meeting is somehow connected to art. Sinisa recently shared a slideshow of images of Chloë, including a shot of a note on his phone: “Call Chloë.”
Sinisa is the director of Karma, an art gallery that says of itself, “Contemporary artist publications, plus posters & records are sold in this small bookstore & gallery.” His own Instagram page is filled with obscure references and seemingly random shares alongside personal mementos, like this snap of his childhood passport.
Chloë is believed to be around five months pregnant, which puts her likely due date in late April or early May. It will be fun to see how motherhood treats her, and especially to see if she and Sinisa decide to share any details about their child after the birth.
In addition to motherhood, Chloë has a whole slew of professional activities and projects coming up. While many audiences know her for her time on American Horror Story, she is currently filming a miniseries called We Are Who We Are, and a recent film called Slow Machine is in postproduction.
